She is not the chosen one…
…she is a survivor.
“Governor’s daughters do not cower in the dirt. But that is exactly what I was doing…”
When rebellion destroys her home and claims her father’s life, governor’s daughter Camilla survives a dangerous journey to the Empire’s capital, only to be greeted by a shattering betrayal that sees her stripped of citizenship and consigned to the city’s poorest district.
Groomed for leadership, Camilla will not accept a life of anonymous hardship. Coming of age in the underworld gangs, among gamblers, revolutionaries and disaffected mages, she has only her wits to keep her alive as she climbs back up - and discovers how much she is willing to sacrifice to get there.
